The Manager will lead the accounting policy function — interpreting complex guidance, monitoring emerging standards, and advising senior leadership on the financial implications of strategic transactions and business activities.
Core Responsibilities
- —Technical research. Serve as the subject matter expert on accounting and financial reporting requirements promulgated by the FASB, SEC, AICPA, and FERC.
- —Policy management. Monitor emerging guidance to ensure timely compliance. Develop and manage implementation project plans for new standards.
- —Strategic advisory. Partner with business unit accountants to ensure new guidance and complex transactions are recorded accurately and consistently across the enterprise.
- —Risk mitigation. Identify financial reporting and risk exposure implications resulting from standard-setting changes.
- —Executive communication. Formulate and present company positions on proposed standards to Management Committee members and senior stakeholders.
- —Documentation. Prepare comprehensive white papers detailing assumptions, GAAP conclusions, and the impact of alternative accounting treatments.
Experience & Qualifications
- —Certification. CPA required.
- —Experience. Robust background in public accounting. Big 4 experience highly preferred.
- —Expertise. Deep understanding of GAAP and SEC reporting. Demonstrated ability to interpret complex technical literature.
- —Communication. Exceptional ability to distill technical accounting concepts into actionable insights for executive and non-financial stakeholders.
