The Opportunity
ATG's client is a leading non-bank lender seeking experienced business development professionals to drive origination on a growing national platform. The role focuses on creative asset-based lending solutions for middle-market companies — specifically those in transition, undergoing turnarounds, or pursuing rapid growth.
Unlike traditional bank platforms, this firm operates with the agility and flexibility of a premier non-bank lender, providing senior secured financing without the bureaucracy that constrains conventional bank deal flow.
Core Responsibilities
- —Direct origination. Identify and develop new deal flow through a robust personal network of referral sources — PE groups, investment banks, debt advisors, and turnaround consultants.
- —Strategic collaboration. Partner with internal stakeholders to evaluate deal appetite and navigate the competitive landscape.
- —Market presence. Cultivate brand awareness through visibility in industry organizations (SFNet, ACG, TMA) and targeted networking events.
- —Transaction profile. Focus on senior secured commitments typically ranging from $15 million to $100+ million, acting as sole or lead lender in complex transactions.
- —Qualify and pitch. Rapidly assess prospect viability. Pitch a value proposition centered on speed, certainty of closing, and structural flexibility.
- —Deal structuring. Coordinate with the underwriting team to engineer deal terms, prepare initial proposals, and issue competitive term sheets.
- —Due diligence and execution. Spearhead preliminary diligence procurement. Lead prospect negotiations and shepherd internal approvals through to closing.
- —Pipeline management. Use CRM tools to track activity. Implement tactical calling plans to meet annual deployment targets.
Experience & Qualifications
- —Credit acumen. 5–10+ years originating and structuring complex ABL facilities. Deep understanding of collateral analysis and middle-market credit.
- —Education. Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- —Network. Proven, active rolodex of intermediaries and PE sponsors within the assigned territory.
- —Adaptability. Ability to operate efficiently in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment without the bureaucracy of a traditional bank.
- —Communication. Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to present sophisticated financing solutions to C-suite executives and financial sponsors.
- —Travel. Readiness for frequent travel to prospects, referral sources, and clients.
